Very cool demo for ya game! I like it alot as the planet phases remind me of Zone 66, an old dos favourite of mine. I managed to find a few super weapons and visit a bunch of planets and solar systems. No bugs found. Xbox controller worked perfectly.

Only critique is that it's very hard to aim. The enemy's on the planet follow you, but to get ahead of them with the boost then circle back around and line them up, It's almost impossible to do this without slowing down to a stop and taking heaps of damage, which I'm sure I would have died numerous times if no deaths was turned off. Lookin good so far otherwise though. Great work mate!

Glad you liked it! For aiming, there's a strafe option (Alt key for keyboard, use the mouse, or hold LT on an XBox controller).
You're not the first person to have trouble with aiming, though, I'll find a way to make it more obvious how strafing works.

Hey you know how some of the ships in Star Control replace the default Spacewar! controls with their own movement system, would that be possible in SSG with certain ships or upgrades unlocking other flight modes or would flying too different break enemy AI?

For this game, I think combat will have to work with one movement mode. As it happens I've just been refining the new Blades enemies and it's a delicate balance.
Some non-combat missions might involve different movement schemes in the future.

Heh, it's funny the enemy which locked in these controls happens to be called the blade.  Time to go get some Supox practise in!

By the way, I think I've fixed the aiming issue now. I just implemented the game auto locking on to an enemy when combat starts.
I wrote a blog post about it here: https://plasmabeamgames.wordpress.com/2023/06/10/encounter-targeting/
